How to sew a fabric and minky fleece cover for the sofa

This cover puts it together the creative sewing technique and the patchwork technique to make one fabric cover and minky fleece for the sofa.

The central part, in fact, is made by sewing together 42 squares of fabric in a rectangle measuring 70 x 80cm to which 16cm high side bands are then added. The technique adopted allows you to expand the size of the cover as you wish.

As a base I used a measuring tape gray fleece with leaf prints, 160 cm high.

There final size of the cover is approximately 102 x 112 cm.

By increasing the size of the squares or the number of stripes or side bands, it is possible to greatly enlarge the dimensions of the cover.

Materials and Tools

• 110cm of fleece
• 42 12.5 cm (5 inch) squares of fabric
• fabric for the side strips measuring 110 x 64 cm
• double feed foot
• temporary spray glue

Sew the fabric part of the cover

Sew the fabric squares together in 7 rows of 6 pieces each.

Once the 7 rows have been sewn, sew them together until you create the central rectangle.

Sew a 16 cm high strip of fabric on two opposite sides. Then sew the other pair of strips, onto the other two parts.

Assemble the cover

Once the central part is ready, spread the fleece on the ground.

On the inside, place the patchwork fabric and baste it or you can use a temporary spray glue.

ATTENTION: leave at least 5 cm of fleece margin along the edge.

Still remaining on the ground, draw parallel lines with the square that cross the squares diagonally.

Using the walking foot, sew the diagonal lines.

At this point, fold the edges by 1 cm and baste, then fold again by 2 cm or more, covering the edge of the fabric.

Sew around using the walking foot.
