How to sew a patchwork runner with floral pattern

This patchwork table runner is made up of 3 flowers and round ends, hence the name “Tres Floritas” or three small flowers.

The construction of the runner it is made in inches and can be tackled even by a patchwork beginner.

I used 3 different colors (grey, white and red) for the top and a fabric for the back.

Finished size of the runner: 96.5 x 23 cm.

As you wish, you can add or remove flowers to change the finished length of the project.

Materials and Tools

NOTE: to assemble the feet “universal” on your machine I recommend you read this guide.

Sew the patchwork flower

Download the runner pattern found above in the materials list.

To make 1 flower you need to cut:

• 4 1″1/2 gray squares
• 8 1″1/2 white squares
• 4 x 4″ red squares

Mark the diagonal on each small square.

Sew each small square onto 3 corners of each large red square. Cut off the excess. Press.

Sew the four pieces together to form the flower and repeat two more times.

Make the runner top

Following the pattern, sew the flowers together interspersed with a sashing strip and then sew the remaining parts.

Bring the round shape onto the ends and cut it out.

Making the runner’s sandwich

Place the padding rectangle.

On top, place the fabric rectangle for the back, right side up. Then place the runner’s top right sides together.

Pin and baste along the perimeter of the runner. Attach the walking foot.

Sew around 1/4 inch apart and leave a 6 inch opening.

Trim the excess and only the seam allowance of the padding.

Turn right side out and close the opening with a hidden hand stitch.

You can use the walking foot to make decorative quilting stitches around the flowers.
